Our electricians support Rob Burrows and Leeds Rhinos

As domestic electricians in Leeds we’re super proud of our home town, and our community is really important to us. While business and customer satisfaction is always our top priority, we love to support local teams and schemes as much as we can to give a little back to the area.

We currently have a few things in the pipeline which we’ll update you on soon, but one local story we’ve been keeping an eye on since the start of the year is the sad diagnosis of Leeds Rhino and Great Britain rugby half-back Rob Burrows with early stage Motor Neurone Disease.

As a real giant of the sport, he’s a big name with rugby fans in the Leeds area and has been instrumental in many of the team’s past successes. When we saw the fundraising efforts started by the Rhinos in support of Rob and his family, we decided to get involved while also giving our own supporters a little bit of excitement!

So last week we ran a Facebook raffle for one of our followers (or their friends) to win a limited edition 2020 Rob Burrows No. 7 t-shirt we purchased with proceeds going towards the fundraiser  set up to help with his treatment.  We had a great response and presented the lucky winner with her t-shirt yesterday.

Our name in the Emerald Stadium!

We’re also excited that our new advertising banner is up in the Rhino’s home stadium at Headingley – so we get to ‘join’ the team at every home game!

Placed behind the sticks under the scoreboard, it’s a great spot – although without the crowds due to coronavirus we’re sad we haven’t seen Ronnie the Rhino running past our name yet. Our banner’s first outing was at the 9th August game against St Helen’s, which unfortunately didn’t bring the same great result for our boys as the Huddersfield match the previous week, but we’re hoping for better things to come and will be cheering them on throughout the season.

As the crowds start to return to live sports matches, we can’t wait to see the atmosphere return to rugby, and whether you’re watching in person or over on Sky Sports, we hope you spot the Hi-Spec Electrical banner as Ronnie celebrates the next win!
